Santos Laguna signs Guillermo Almada as head coach

Torreón, Coahuila; April 11, 2019 - Club Santos Laguna announces the hiring of Guillermo Jorge Almada Alves as head coach of los Guerreros.

 Almada was born on June 18, 1969 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He is 49 years old. 

He began his career as a professional player in 1985 in his native Uruguay with Defensor Sporting, and later went on to play for several teams in Chile, Colombia, and Guatemala.

He led Club Tacuarembó of Uruguay in 2009, which would be his first managerial job in football.  Then went on to coach Uruguay’s River Plate, with whom he qualified to the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores.

In 2015, Almada arrived at Barcelona of Guayaquil, winning the Ecuadorian Championship in 2016.

He has honorable mentions as Best Manager is in both Uruguay and Ecuador.
