Los Guerreros finished their 2019 regular phase campaign with a 2-2 draw in Toluca on Sunday. Seven youth players made the starting lineup, continuing in Santos' tradition of developing talent and providing oportunities for young Mexican players.
Diego Valdés opened scoring in the 9th minute off a direct free kick. Toluca equalized in the 15th and scored another at the 30 minute mark, pulling ahead momentarily. In the 36th minute, Santos youth product Edgar Games equalized, nabbing his first professional goal in the first division after making his professional debut this year under head coach Guillermo Almada.
Both teams held firm throughout the rest of the match, finishing in a 2-2 to divide points.
With the result, los Guerreros closed their participation in the 2019 Apertura's regular phase with 37 points and leading the league in victories with 11.
