Mexico U22 will face Ireland in its second game in the Maurice Revello Tournament in France, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 pm central time.
In the team's opening match vs. Bahrain, three players from Santos Laguna featured as El Tri walked away with a confident 2-0 win.
Jesus Angulo was named captain, playing all 90 minutes, Gerardo Arteaga played 80 minutes, and Lalo Aguirre came off the bench in the second half and played 28 minutes.
"One of the strengths is that the large number of players, if not all of us, have experience in the first division and we are important for our clubs," commented Arteaga.
The 20 year old left back said that with the collective experience of this Mexico U22 team, the chance is there to make it to the final once again.
"It's very important, and now that we have a group of players with a lot of experience, I think we can achieve the championship and overcome what was done last year."
Mexico made it to the final of the 2018 edition but fell short to eventual champion England, with Santos Laguna forward and youth product Aguirre scoring seven goals and walking away as goal scoring champion.
Beyond the result, Arteaga says the experience the tournament offers helps players when they return to their club teams for preseason.
"This experience is fundamental, because you realize the level that exists in these tournaments, the National Teams and the competition that you have helps you to improve."
